How did we decide which order to do the works in?

In order to assess where works should start we used a combination of the cost to make the properties decent, the percentage of the properties non decent and the Government Quality of Life statistics for each of the twelve postcode areas within the borough (BN22 7, BN21 3, BN23 8 etc).

These three factors have been combined to rank each of these postcode areas in order of priority. We then consulted with our Decent Homes Core Group and from 180 valid responses 96% agreed with this approach to prioritising the work areas.

The results of this exercise, illustrating the areas ranked by priority, is shown on the map (downloadable below) - works will follow the order of red, yellow and green.

It is important to remember that the Decent Homes work is a large programme that will take five years to deliver by the Government’s target of 2010. Some homes will be upgraded at the beginning of the programme and some will be upgraded at the end.

Over the last year you are likely to have have recieved a visit from one of our survey companies who have been carrying out surveys to assess the condition of our homes.  We now have an up to date information on the conditrion of 3285 of our homes.  This information has been loaded on to our Asset Management database and is being used with our constructor partners to develop detailed plans of work.

In June 2007 we will be publishing programmes of work that will detail proposed Decent Homes Works on a street by street basis.
