In July 2001 the Government introduced the Decent Homes Standard, which has fixed a national target to ensure that all Social Housing in England meets set standards of decency by 2010.  In order to meet this target Eastbourne Homes will follow its own multi-million pound work programme which started with the pilot scheme in August 2006 and extended through to October 2007.

Eastbourne Homes was inspected by the Audit Commission in September 2007. A two star rating was acheived the first part of an additional £45 Million has been released for Decent Homes Works.

Prior to launching the pilot scheme Eastbourne Homes collected very detailed survey information on the Council's housing stock - this shows us the current level of decency and enables us to make projections on future decency and the level of funding required to achieve 100% decency within the Government's deadline.
