Anti-Social Behaviour

Two people dealing in drugs.

Anti-social behaviour (ASB) is behaviour which causes or is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress to other people.

This could include:

  • Unreasonable noise,
  • Verbal abuse,
  • Physical abuse or assault,
  • Threatening behaviour,
  • Damage to property,
  • Graffiti and vandalism,
  • Harassment including racial harassment or other hate crimes,
  • Domestic violence,
  • Allowing animals to cause a nuisance such as fouling public areas, and
  • Using your home for illegal purposes such as drug-dealing.

Eastbourne Homes will not tolerate persistent acts of ASB by our residents, members of their households or their visitors which ruins the quality of life of other residents, our staff or contractors or stops people carrying out legitimate business in the areas of the town it manages.

Eastbourne Homes' tenants and leaseholders have a responsibility to make sure that the terms of their tenancy agreement and leases are kept to and that they do not cause or allow acts of anti-social behaviour.

We have a policy and procedure for dealing with cases of Anti-Social Bahaviour. We investigate reported cases and work with residents and other agencies such as the Mediation Service, Environmental Health, Sussex Police and the Eastbourne Crime Reduction Partnership to resolve all reported problems.

If you are expericing Anti-Social Behaviour you can read our Policy and Procedure which tells you what steps you need to take or you can contact your Area Housing Officer.

If the behaviour relates to a criminal activity you should contact Sussex Police on 0845 6070999 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111, or call 999 if you feel the matter needs immediate attention.
