Noise Nuisance

Occasionally you may find yourself being disturbed by noise. This could be from a range of sources including a neighbour, their pet or be caused by works being carried out to name but a few.
If the noise is excessive and repetitive - which means it is not just a one off such as noise from a celebration, then you should try and speak with the person responsible for the noise.
If you do not feel able to approach your neighbour or if this does not work, you should notify your Area Housing Officer or the council's Environmental Health department.
You may be asked to keep a record of nuisance or disturbances (use our Nuisance Log, downloadable below, to help you do this). This could be used as evidence in court if we decide to take legal action. You may need to attend court to give evidence as a witness if this course of action is necessary. Please note that where possible we will try to resolve matters without the need for legal action as our intention is to deal with the nuisance.
