Communal Areas and Open Spaces
Cleaning
Residents are responsible for cleaning the hall, stairs and landings, apart from sheltered flats and some bedsit blocks.
It is best to agree with your neighbours who will do what on a rota basis. Some residents because of their age or physical ability, may not be able to do as much as other residents.
We may carry out the work and recharge residents if the area is not kept up to a reasonable standard.
Alternatively, if all residents in a block agree to paying a regular charge, cleaning can be arranged. Speak to your Area Housing Officer for more information. We are investigation rolling this idea out across the borough.
Communal Areas
Nothing should be left in communal landings or under the stairs. This includes bikes and pushchairs. These areas must be kept clean as anything left here could cause an obstruction, particularly if there was a fire.
Blocks and Courts are inspected regularly and anything found in communal areas will be removed and residents are re-charged for this service.
Radio Mast or Satellite Dish
You will need to get permission from us if you wish to put up a radio mast or satelite dish. There are Planning Restrictions on the number and position of aerials and dishes that can be put up.
You will need to complete an Application for Alterations form. The Government booklet "A Householders Planning Guide for the Installation of Satellite TV Dishes" is also available from our offices.
